Hello there Friends & Family:
I am looking forward to retiring this summer and becoming more involved in the J-Sei programs and activities that I talk with you about every year on this page: like delivering some meals and taking some fun classes!
We tend to equate retirement with old age and old age with slowing down. But I know that the seniors engaged with J-Sei stay young mentally and physically. Anyone who has seen the hip hoppers dance or art student create ikebana and beautiful paintings know that the bodies, minds and hearts of J-Sei seniors are staying young and creative. I too hope to drink from this fountain of youth known as J-Sei.
Non-profit J-Sei’s mission is to provide meals, caregiving and programs to seniors. Volunteers, staff and board work tirelessly to ensure that East Bay Area Asian American/Pacific Islander (AAPI) senior citizens and their families have support. J-Sei’s seniors enjoy chef-prepared meals (nutrition program); hang out with friends through the friendly visitor program and keep their minds active through fun classes (hip hop, singing, painting, Tai Chi, to name a few). Caregiving for our senior family members is challenging, but J-Sei’s services, such as helping secure in-home caregivers, go a long way in relieving some of the stress.
Life is so much better when we can age together in healthy, fun and creative ways. I am lucky that in my retirement, I can do that at J-Sei.
PLEASE HELP J-SEI BY MAKING A DONATION OF ANY AMOUNT THROUGH THIS GIVE IN MAY CAMPAIGN. YOUR DONATION WILL BE MATCHED BY GIVING HERE. THANK YOU AND ALSO HAPPY ASIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH!
