Tracy's 30th Birthday Fundraiser for VietRISE

If you know me, you know I've been part of VietRISE since I was 23. Now I'm turning 30! and I'm really excited to enter this new era. 

This organization means so much to me and always will, no matter what my role in it may be. It's the organization I wish I had when I was younger. Every day is meaningful because I get to work with my beloved community.

The past few years have not been easy for our community. VietRISE has worked with Vietnamese seniors who were evicted from their mobile homes while facing significant health issues. Each year, more and more elders in our community are threatened with losing their homes. Vietnamese community members are getting detained and deported after spending decades of their lives here, and their loved ones have to sacrifice parts of their lives to mitigate the disruption that this ramped-up deportation regime is causing. Vietnamese youth are working jobs where they are not respected, and in general, we know that the people who represent us in office, who may look like us, have not done their jobs to make our lives easier and better. 

These are the stories and real experiences Vietnamese Americans face that are not being told enough. If these stories are not known, people won't realize there are problems facing our community that we need to address. 

Our work at VietRISE centers our working-class community and works toward finding immediate and long-term solutions for these issues. At the same time, we're building a caring community of organizers and advocates who have found an advocacy home at VietRISE.
