Hi friends, family, & Long Beach Community!

I’m fundraising for Khmer Girls in Action (KGA) for Long Beach Gives because I believe in youth power. Do you? 

At KGA, we serve 70 students from their freshmen to senior years across our 5 programs. That's 70 students committed to bettering themselves, their communities, & the city itself. In their time at KGA, our youth learn about Southeast Asian history, elections & campaigns at the city, county, & state level, & how to become real change makers in their communities. Students in KGA have organized to raise over $500,000 for youth programs in the city of Long Beach, conducted participatory action research surveys on community health, and have spoken in front of Long Beach's school board & city council.

KGA is important to me because without our programs, youth are missing out on a crucial way to learn about themselves, their culture, communities, and how they can influence the future. Through cultural connection, personal mentorship, and coalition building, KGA helps young people explore their identities, become leaders, and advocate for their individual & collective visions of change.

KGA offers a unique and powerful experience for its members by creating a safe space for youth to connect with peers who share similar backgrounds. On top of that, KGA gives youth access to opportunities many of us never had growing up — from educational workshops to fun, fully-funded trips to places like Big Bear, Knott’s Berry Farm and the beach.
