J-Sei has been providing services to the community for over 50 years.
It has been nearly eighteen years since I began working at J-Sei. When I first started in 2008, the organization was known as Japanese American Services of the East Bay (JASEB). We had fewer staff members than we do today, and our office was housed in a century-old Victorian home.
At that time, our Senior Center activities were conducted in a rented space at the Berkeley United Methodist Church.
Thanks to the dedication of J-Sei’s Board Members and volunteers—as well as the warm support of our community—we were able to relocate our office to Emeryville. Due to both our administrative offices and the Senior Center now situated in the same location, we are now able to provide an even more comprehensive range of services.
By increasing our staff, we have been able to provide services to even more seniors through each of our programs. This, too, is thanks to your generous donations.
Through my work as a case manager handling numerous cases, I have had the privilege of gaining a renewed and deeper understanding of our community’s spirit of mutual support—an experience that I consider to be a truly invaluable asset.
As we all grow older. I sincerely hope that J-Sei will continue to thrive, not only for the sake of our own future but also for that of the generations to come.
I would be deeply grateful for your cooperation in ensuring that this campaign successfully raises the funds necessary to secure J-Sei’s continued existence
