Right now, many Asian immigrant and refugee families, seniors, and youth are at risk of losing trusted care and support because of drastic funding cuts.
MARU has already lost $1.3M in critical funding—putting essential programs and community spaces at risk.
This AANHPI Heritage Month, you can take action to help protect what our community depends on.
Imagine wanting to meet others in your community, to share your culture—but not having a place to go.
A parent wanting their child to be part of cultural traditions.
A young person seeking to share their stories and learn from elders.
A senior seeking movement and togetherness through Tai Chi.
Small moments like these matter deeply, but are becoming harder to access.
Everyone deserves spaces like these.
Community Connectors are here to bring people together.
We are a team working with community partners to host free, intergenerational, cultural events that celebrate identity, cultural traditions, and shared experience—a place where people can gather and grow.
We support connection through:
- Intergenerational cultural workshops
- Art and storytelling events
- Tai Chi, self defense, and wellness classes
- Community celebrations honoring shared identity, culture, and food
“I often see seniors arrive curious at first. But with a simple greeting and acknowledgment, their expressions soften—and their smiles tell me they feel safe. As we move together, I watch them begin to mirror each motion. In that shared time and space, I know something meaningful is happening—people are being seen, supported, and experiencing connection.”
-Victor Lau (he/them), Health Promotion and Safety Instructor
We don’t just host events.
We turn moments of longing and isolation into pathways toward connection, shared experiences, and belonging.
Without immediate support, some of these services may be reduced or no longer available in the same way—leaving families, seniors, and youth without trusted places to turn.
We are coming together to raise money for intergenerational cultural events that are being impacted by funding cuts.
Will you help ensure MARU remains a place where no one has to face hardship alone?
Your gift means a child learns cultural traditions alongside their elders. A family gathers in a shared space to cook and celebrate together. It means communities have a place to return to again and again—so we feel we are a part of something meaningful.
Your support directly powers real, immediate impact.
