Roots & Futures: A Community Fundraiser

Hello and welcome!

My name is Meuy Saetern, and Iu-Mien Community Services holds deep personal significance for me in my role as Youth Program Coordinator, where I have the privilege of creating meaningful, engaging, and fun activities for youth in our community. My background as a paraeducator allowed me to work with children of all ages and strengthened my passion for supporting their growth and development.

This fundraiser supports youth who are eager to embrace their future, build meaningful connections within their community, and develop a deeper understanding and pride in their cultural heritage. My hope is that they are able to experience this sense of belonging and enrichment much earlier in life than I did, so it can guide and strengthen them for years to come. 

Although I grew up within the Mien community, it was not until adulthood—and especially through my work at IMCS—that I fully came to understand and appreciate the depth of my cultural identity. This experience has deepened my commitment to preserving our heritage and traditions, ensuring they are honored and passed down to future generations with care and intention.

However, these opportunities are at risk due to upcoming funding cuts, and we need your support to ensure this vital work can continue!
