Elaine's Story:
Eight years ago, I took a massive leap of faith, leaving the comfort of NYC for Los Angeles to pursue a second Master’s with a focus on Asian American contexts. This move changed everything. It’s where I met one of my dearest friends, Sandy Kim, where together with our friends, we helped bring her dream of free community learning to life. That is exactly where my heart for the nonprofit world started to grow.
After 16 years in the classroom, transitioning into my role at LEAP felt like it was meant to be. My heart has always been in helping people grow, so joining an organization that’s been championing AANHPI leaders for over 40 years was the perfect next step. It’s been incredible to bring my education background into a space that empowers our community so deeply.
