Giving Tiers
While we are extremely grateful for any amount you choose to donate, we also wanted to provide suggested donation tiers.
$25 - Your $25 donation provides a full backpack filled with essential supplies like notebooks, pencils, crayons, and folders.
$250 - Your $250 donation supplies backpacks and school essentials for a small group of students, or about enough to cover a reading group, after-school club, or lunch table.
$1550 - Your $1,550 gift sponsors a classroom of about 31 students, making sure that no child in the class falls behind because of a lack of supplies.
$5000 - With a $5000 donation, you'll be sponsoring an entire grade showcasing your dedication to investing in your community.
Donations to Asians Fighting Injustice are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. AFI is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Please consult your tax advisor for specific guidance regarding your contribution.
At Asians Fighting Injustice (AFI), we believe that access to education doesn’t start with the curriculum—it starts with a backpack. It starts with markers, paper, glue, and a classroom where students feels safe and full of a sense of possibility and purpose.
That’s why we’re launching our Back-to-School Community Giveback & Teacher Supply Swap, a community-led event designed to make sure no student starts the year empty-handed, and no teacher starts it alone.
We’re collecting:
New backpacks and age-appropriate school supplies for students (Check out our WISHLIST to donate specific items)
Gently used and new classroom items for a teacher-to-teacher supply swap (door decorations, manipulatives, posters, leftover odds and ends from projects)
Decor, project tools, and general classroom supplies to help teachers build the spaces our students deserve
This initiative is personal for us. AFI is led by educators, caregivers, parents, and community members who know how it feels to walk into the school year without enough—and how it feels when someone shows up with support.
Our work with the REACH Coalition and education equity efforts across NYC continue to push for meaningful curriculum changes, especially for AANHPI students. But that’s only part of the picture. A truly equitable education means building classrooms that support every child, every day—and supporting the teachers who make that possible.
By donating, sharing, or partnering, you’re helping build stronger schools, stronger communities, and better outcomes for all—not just those who receive a backpack, but for everyone who calls NYC home.
