ISSUE 07: Lore, now OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS

Imagine “Lore” as origins—a historical source; ancestry and etymology; the founding and fall of ancient civilizations; the roots of cultural practices; the gathering of a people and birth of a community.

“Lore” as echoes often an oral tradition, the passing down of stories, song, poetry, as well as memories of joy, revelation, power, or trauma—all these echoes of generations past coming down the line like a game of telephone, adapting and being reinterpreted with each retelling.

“Lore” as knowledge, asking ourselves what wisdom has been passed down and across communities? From traditional medicine and herbal remedies to agricultural techniques, is this wisdom endangered and if so, how do we preserve it? If we fail, what does the world look like without it?

“Lore” as worldbuilding, sparked by mystical, supernatural, worlds of wonder. Picture the multi-universes we’ve created across history—the births of gods and goddesses, or heroes and conquests that earned them their constellations painted across the skies. See the creatures that have come out of the stories we’ve created across time. From the eerily horrific to the celestial divine, imagine the worlds we’ve built around us to keep us grounded in the present or, conversely, the universes we build in our minds to escape.
