ACA Care Shuttle

The Association of Chinese Americans (ACA) has long been committed to enhancing the well-being and quality of life of the elderly within our community. Recognizing the growing need for accessible transportation among seniors, ACA has embarked on an ambitious initiative: the acquisition of a 15-seat Passenger Van. Dubbed the ACA Care Shuttle, this 15-seat van is not just a vehicle; it's a lifeline for seniors who find themselves increasingly isolated due to limited transportation options.

For many elderly citizens in our community, the simple act of traveling to a doctor’s appointment, visiting family, or participating in community events can be a daunting challenge. Public transportation systems often do not cater to the specific needs of seniors, especially those with mobility issues. Private transportation can be prohibitively expensive, and the reliance on friends or family members is not always a viable solution. This is where the ACA Care Shuttle steps in.

The idea for the ACA Care Shuttle was born from a series of community feedback sessions held by the ACA. During these sessions, the lack of reliable transportation emerged as a significant barrier preventing seniors from leading active and fulfilled lives. Inspired to make a difference, ACA set a goal to secure a vehicle that could meet these needs directly.

With determination and the support of our community, we have made remarkable progress towards this goal. To date, 90% of the funds required to purchase the van have already been raised through grants, donations, and several small fundraising events. We are now in the final stretch of our campaign and need to raise just $10,000 more to bring this project to fruition.

This May, as part of our annual Give In May campaign, we are reaching out to individuals and businesses alike to help us cross the finish line. The campaign not only aims to raise the necessary funds but also to raise awareness about the challenges faced by our elderly population.

Your support for the ACA Care Shuttle means more than just contributing to the purchase of a van. It means giving the gift of mobility and independence to seniors. It means safe, comfortable trips to medical appointments that could be critical to their health. It means the joy of social engagement, which is often scarce in their lives. It means a renewed connection with the community and the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are not forgotten.

Every dollar donated brings us closer to our goal. Each donation is an affirmation of our mission to foster an environment where the elderly are cared for, respected, and integrated into every thread of our community fabric.

We envision the ACA Care Shuttle as a vibrant symbol of community support and empowerment. Once operational, the shuttle will be managed with the utmost care, ensuring that safety, comfort, and accessibility are prioritized. Our dedicated team of volunteers will operate the shuttle, embodying the spirit of service and community that drives ACA.

As we continue with our Give In May campaign, we invite you to be a part of this transformative journey. Join us in making a significant impact on the lives of our seniors. Let’s help them navigate their world with ease and confidence. Your support can drive change, one ride at a time.
