Why I Give to Iu Mien Community Services

More than 25 years ago, I was a student participant at the inaugural Iu Mien Student Conference, my first introduction to a partnership with Iu Mien Community Services (IMCS) that has only grown stronger. Over the years, I became a volunteer, then a youth coordinator, and today I serve as the organization's board vice president. That journey reflects how deeply I believe in IMCS's mission to support our community.

Now I'm asking you to be part of that story.

The Need Is Real

Our community faces challenges that don't make headlines but shape lives every day: seniors struggling with isolation, families dealing with food insecurity, young people navigating the space between two cultures, and students who dream of college but can't afford it.

IMCS shows up for all of it. Every week, over 100 seniors gather at our programs, not just for activities, but for connection. One participant shared that these are the only times she doesn't feel alone. Our staff distribute food to families, provide mental health respite, and this year awarded $5,000 in scholarships to help our young people pursue higher education. But we can only continue this work with support from people like you.

Your Gift Keeps It Going

For Big Day of Giving this year, I'm asking for your support. A gift of $20, $50, $100, or whatever feels right to you goes directly toward cultural programs, food support, youth activities, and scholarships. There's no gift too small. Every dollar tells our community that someone out there believes in them.

The Big Day of Giving is one day, but our community's needs are year-round. Your generosity ensures IMCS can continue providing these much-needed services.

Thank you for standing with us.
