At Somang Society, we are deeply committed to enhancing the lives of Asian American seniors by promoting initiatives centered around "Well Being, Well Aging, and Well Dying." Our holistic approach is designed to empower seniors to lead fulfilling lives while making significant contributions to their respective communities. Through a blend of community service, educational programs, and wellness initiatives, Somang Society fosters an environment where Asian American elders can thrive in their later years.
Well Being
Somang's "Well Being" initiative emphasizes community involvement and humanitarian aid. We recognize the powerful impact of communal support and encourage our members to actively engage in projects that uplift and aid communities both locally and globally. One of the standout aspects of our "Well Being" initiative is our Chad support program, which focuses on constructing clean water wells and educational facilities in underprivileged regions in Chad. By involving seniors in these projects, we not only aid external communities but also enrich the lives of our members through the spirit of sharing and caring.
Well Aging
Somang Society’s "Well Aging" program is tailored to enhance the quality of life for Asian American seniors by promoting social interaction, mental health, and physical well-being.
Our organization provides resources and support for seniors to navigate the challenges of aging, ensuring they live their later years with respect and quality. As community leaders, we host Peer Support Groups, Organize Art and Craft Sessions, Volunteer Opportunities, and conduct Health Screenings and Preventative Care for the elderly. Our "Well Aging" initiative focuses on maintaining dignity, mutual respect, and understanding among the elderly.
Well Dying
Our "Well Dying" initiative is dedicated to addressing the often-taboo subject of end-of-life care within the Asian American senior community. At Somang Society, we offer educational resources and support to improve understanding and attitudes towards aging, dementia, and end-of-life planning. Workshops and seminars focus on advanced care planning, legal and ethical considerations, and emotional support for families and caregivers. This initiative seeks to equip Korean American seniors and their families with the knowledge and tools needed to approach the end of life with dignity and peace.
