Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation (PAAFF) was founded in 2008 by a passionate group of Asian Americans who wanted to create a space that focused on supporting the growing Asian filmmaking community. PAAFF is dedicated to supporting and highlighting the experiences of the Asian and Pacific Islander diaspora through creative community-focused programs.
Under the leadership of arts and culture visionaries and with the support of our sponsors, local foundations, and community, PAAFF has grown to be an important, influential platform for Asian and Pacific Islander creators in Philadelphia’s flourishing arts scene.
Now in its 18th year, PAAFF continues to build upon its resources to ensure a sustainable organization that produces impactful film programs throughout the calendar year, including our annual fall festival. We build community by spotlighting local Asian American businesses, honoring our histories, and celebrating the rich diversity of our cultures.
The donated funds from this campaign will go directly towards the cost of PAAFF's annual festival and year-round programming and cover expenses such as:
🎭 Artist Stipend- We ensure that all artists whose work is featured in our festival program and year-round events are compensated. PAAFF would not be possible without these individuals, and we firmly believe that exposure on its own is not sufficient.
🎥 Screening/Exhibition Fee - PAAFF provides screening fees to filmmakers for their Shorts and Feature films screened in person or as a part of our online rental offerings.
✈️ Guest filmmaker travel and accommodation - Part of curating a successful film festival includes providing filmmakers and other relevant individuals the opportunity to present their work in person and be a part of a film discussion. Our audience and community members have the opportunity to engage directly with artists, which is a key part of our mission.
