Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival

Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF) was founded in 2008 by a passionate group of Asian Americans who wanted to create a space that focused on supporting the growing Asian filmmaking community. PAAFF is dedicated to supporting and highlighting the experiences of Asian and Pacific Islander diaspora through creative community-focused programs. 

Under the leadership of arts and culture visionaries and with the support of our sponsors, local foundations, and community, PAAFF has grown to be an important, influential platform for Asian and Pacific Islander creators in Philadelphia’s flourishing arts scene.

Now in its 17th year, PAAFF continues to build upon its resources to ensure a sustainable organization that produces impactful film programs throughout the calendar year. The festival aims to build community by spotlighting local Asian American businesses, honoring our histories, and celebrating the rich diversity of our cultures. 

Our annual cycle of events culminates in our signature film festival, which elevates the voices of A&PI filmmakers, playwrights, musical artists, and other creatives.

The donated funds from this campaign will go directly towards the cost of PAAFF's annual festival and year-round programming and cover expenses such as:

🎭 Artist compensation - We ensure that all artists whose work is featured in our festival program and year-round events are compensated. PAAFF would not be possible without these individuals, and we firmly believe that exposure on its own is not sufficient.

🎥 Screening equipment - Many events require PAAFF to provide our own screening equipment, and being able to rent or buy equipment allows us more flexibility and opportunities with regards to the content that we can program.

✈️ Guest filmmaker travel and accommodation - Part of curating a successful film festival includes providing filmmakers and other relevant individuals the opportunity to present their work in person. Allowing our audience and community members to engage directly with artists is a key part of our mission.
