About North East Medical Services (NEMS)

North East Medical Services (NEMS) is one of the largest community health centers in the United States targeting the medically underserved Asian population. Our mission is to provide affordable, comprehensive, compassionate, and quality health care services in a linguistically competent and culturally sensitive manner to improve the health and well-being of the community. NEMS was founded in 1968 and began serving patients in 1971, and we’re excited to celebrate our 50th anniversary with you all!

Over the last 50 years, we have grown from a small primary care clinic in Chinatown to a large organization of seventeen clinics/sites, three enrollment centers, and a new Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Center that supports the health care needs of over 70,000 patients each year.

Supporting Our Healthcare Heroes

UPDATE: NEMS is thrilled to announce that we are close to reaching the COVID-19 vaccination milestone of administering 100,000 doses to community members! As of May 15, 2022, NEMS has administered 94,533 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and performed 26,474 COVID-19 PCR tests!

Our staff have been working tirelessly on the frontlines since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic; from delivering medications to elderly patients, hosting COVID-19 testing events throughout underserved communities, and providing at-home testing and survival kits to families living in congregate housing facilities - they are truly healthcare heroes!

Although COVID-19 cases have declined, the new Omicron BA.2 variant is beginning to grow in parts of the U.S. and is believed to be increasing in multiple countries. Our staff continue to remain on the frontlines, and this has undoubtedly resulted in staff burnout, retention and hiring challenges, decreased operational capacity, etc. 

This year, all proceeds from Give In May will be used to support NEMS Employee Wellness & Appreciation programs! Your support will directly impact our staff through learning and wellness opportunities, staff luncheons, rewards, and more!
