This May, Let’s Make It Clear That AANHPI Mental Health Matters
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month! This month is a time for us to honor the strength, stories, and resiliency of our communities while holding at the same time the realities of our communities’ risks, issues, and disparities. We invite you to be part of creating a future where AANHPI mental health and wellness are culturally rooted, accessible, and centered in belonging.
The National Asian-American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association (NAAPIMHA) is spearheading the celebration of the 5th Annual National AANHPI Mental Health Day on May 10th, 2025.
NAAPIMHA’s mission is to promote the mental health and well-being of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders. Through our programs, we provide affirming, culturally responsive mental health training and learning opportunities to AANHPI individuals. Together, we’re breaking generational stigma, fostering healing, creating visibility, and building a community where every voice matters.
But we can’t do this without you.
Given the recent waves of uncertainty and cuts in federal funding that have directly impacted organizations like NAAPIMHA, we are at risk of being unable to sustain our work without community support. We also run a number of unfunded programs, like the National AAPI Empowerment Network (NAAPIEN), simply because we are so passionate and committed to uplifting lived mental health experience.
Your support helps fund NAAPIMHA’s continued, community mental health training, youth leadership programming, policy & advocacy, lived-experience storytelling offerings, and supports the development of vital mental health resources made by and for our AANHPI communities.
Now more than ever, we must come together to uplift one another and reiterate our commitment to standing in solidarity with people with lived experience, youth, 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, and immigrant communities, even when this is not reflected in the federal landscape. We will continue to address the mental health challenges our communities face with collective care and resilience.
This May, let’s embrace community care in this critical time by coming together to shape a brighter future for AANHPI Mental Health. Join us in raising funds to sustain and grow this essential work.
Donate today and help us build a community where our mental health matters.
Note from NAAPIMHA's Founder & Executive Director Emeritus, Dr. DJ Ida:
Although I am retired, I find it difficult to sit back while so much of what NAAPIMHA has done is being threatened. That is why I am pledging $5,000 to continue the critical work of NAAPIMHA and its partners at the local, regional, and national levels. I am asking each of you to give what you can. If you’re able to match or exceed my pledge, that would be outstanding, but any amount is deeply appreciated. Please join us not only in May but throughout the year as we celebrate what it is to be AANHPI.
