Aloha! Welcome to Moloka'i where recovery lives!  In 1996 Ka Hale Pomaika'i (The Blessed House) started a Native Hawaiian focused Recovery Community Organization, the first RCO in the state,  and through the years it has evolved to become the sole substance misuse treatment center on the island of Moloka'i.   Life on Molokai is steeped in rich traditions and ancestral wisdom yet western influences combined with life's challenges such as poverty, food insecurity,  unemployment,  houselessness, and poor Healthcare have impacted some people's  ability to avoid maladaptive coping strategies.  When these challenges become so overwhelming, addictions can occur.  As a highly respected service provider on the island, Ka Hale Pomaika’i opens its healing arms to all who seek help, with licensed staff who also have lived experience and are themselves in long-term recovery.   Because services are relational and rely heavily on cultural wisdom to effect change, lives are healing everyday.   By using the ancestoral traditions passed down for generations to create a positive future, the hope is that each person will grasp the opportunity to be restored to a state of "pono"  (balance, righteousness).  We have seen that when this happens, the whole ohana (family) heals and negative stigma within the community dissipates. Although our success rates are among the best in the state, our funding is among the lowest and soon to be cut completely as resources shift to help our fire victim neighbors across the channel on Maui island. We hope that you will join our quest to continue and maintain our bright and beautiful rainbow of recovery on Molokai.  Mahalo nui loa!
