Since 1973, Filipino Advocates for Justice has championed immigrant and civil rights by providing direct services, leadership development, and advocacy for the Filipino community, a historically underserved ethnic minority. Serving at-risk Filipino youth, low-wage workers, and immigrants, FAJ helps community members navigate life in the US. For over 50 years, it has nurtured civic leadership within the Filipino community and today supports over 130,000 Filipinos in the East Bay through offices in Oakland’s Chinatown and Union City.

In response to the pandemic, anti-Asian violence, and now threat to democracy, FAJ has adopted a bold vision centered on transformative change, cross-racial solidarity, intergenerational healing, and self-determination for BIPOC communities, while addressing urgent community wellness needs. Through expanded services, support groups, and free wellness events, FAJ works to build resilience, raise awareness, and break cultural stigma around mental health, particularly racial trauma, fostering healing and reconnection in the post-pandemic era.
