This May, as we honor the beauty, strength, and diversity of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, we root ourselves in a deeper truth—resilience is our legacy.
For over 35 years, Apna Ghar has stood strong at the intersection of heritage and healing, providing critical, comprehensive, and culturally competent services to survivors of gender violence - a global human rights violation and public health concern.
We address the needs of immigrant and refugee Asian and Pacific Islander communities across the City of Chicago. This includes advocacy around racialized misogyny, reproductive justice, anti-Asian hate, and support for Rohingya and Afghan refugees in Chicago, particularly those impacted by gender-based violence.
The urgency of our mission has never been more pronounced. In 2023, nearly half of Asian Americans reported experiencing hate incidents, underscoring the pervasive nature of discrimination and violence in our communities.
We respond with culturally grounded, holistic support—centered on safety, stability, and healing.
This May, you have the power to plant seeds of resilience that will blossom for years to come. With your donation, Apna Ghar can:
$250 → Gift a child a safe space to dream
Provide books and e-learning tools for a survivor’s children—tools that bring comfort, restore normalcy, and create opportunity through education.
$500 → Be a lifeline in a moment of crisis
Offer 10 survivors a vital hour of trauma-informed phone counseling—a compassionate connection that could be their first step toward healing and safety.
$1,000 → Transform a life with sustained support
Fund six months of wraparound, culturally grounded care for one survivor—helping them rebuild from trauma with housing, legal aid, therapy, and community.
➡️ See our Donation Level tab for more ways to uplift survivors.
Over the years, Apna Ghar has served more than 15,000 survivors and community members. In the past year alone, nearly 500 people received transformative support.
When you give, you’re not just donating—you’re helping a survivor rediscover their voice, their strength, and their future.
Thank you for being part of our community.
