AAPI Equity Alliance

A nonprofit organization

We advocate for the AAPI Community

AAPI Equity Alliance (AAPI Equity) is a coalition of 50 community-based organizations serving the diverse needs of the 1.6 million Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Los Angeles County and beyond. It is dedicated to improving the lives of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders through civic engagement, capacity building, and policy advocacy.

Our current projects include:

  • The Stop the Hate program empowers 173 community-based organizations serving Asian, Black, disabled, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and Pacific Islander communities. The Stop the Hate network, supported by five regional leads, aims to foster healthy and safe neighborhoods throughout California. As the Los Angeles County Regional Lead, AAPI Equity Alliance supports 42 partners on the grounds serving survivors of hate. Read stories of impact: aapiequityalliance.org/community-voices
  • The Healing Our People through Engagement (HOPE) program aims to heal Asian and Asian American communities from racism. Rooted in radical healing, a practice developed by psychologists of color that promotes healing beyond coping, HOPE empowers participants to lean on community connections and take meaningful action towards healing. AAPI Equity Alliance and our partners are hoping to expand HOPE to additional communities across the nation. Learn more: aapiequityalliance.org/hope
  • Stop AAPI Hate is coalition cofounded by AAPI Equity Alliance, Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), and San Francisco Asian American Studies Department in response to the escalation in anti-Asian hate during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. What started in 2020 as a local effort against COVID-19 related racism has transformed into a national movement for racial justice. Learn more: stopaapihate.org/5-years
