The Forever Home Project
For two decades, the New Mexico Asian Family Center (NMAFC) has provided culturally and linguistically responsive services to Asian, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian (APINH) communities across New Mexico.
We’ve supported survivors of violence, immigrants, and families navigating complex systems out of small, rented offices that were never designed for the care our communities deserve. We’ve transformed borrowed spaces into counseling rooms, classrooms, and healing circles (sometimes all in the same day!).
Today, for the first time in our history, NMAFC has a place of our own! Our Forever Home in Albuquerque is now open. It is a permanent, community-centered space where survivors and families can access services, gather, and heal. This space includes:
Why This Matters
APINH communities in New Mexico represent over 30 ethnic groups and more than 25 languages but remain among the most underserved populations in the state. Many of the individuals and families we serve face:
Too often, survivors are told: “We don’t have interpreters,” or “your case is too complicated.” NMAFC exists to fill the gaps left by mainstream systems. A permanent space ensures that this work can continue, grow, and remain accessible for generations.
What We’re Building Now
We’ve already achieved a major milestone:
Now, we are raising the remaining funds to fully complete and equip this space.
Our Goal for Give in May
This May, we are working to raise $25,000 toward completing NMAFC’s Forever Home.
Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, every gift made toward our Forever Home is matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000. That means your support goes twice as far in helping us complete this space and sustain our work for years to come. After 20 years, we are creating something permanent that our communities can rely on.
Join us this May and be part of building NMAFC’s Forever Home!
