Compassion in Action is a Christian mentoring program for 8th–12th grade students who have a brother or sister with a disability. Trained Biola University psychology and pre‑med majors meet with teens weekly (Tuesdays, 6–8 pm, March–December) at the Korean American Special Education Center in Cypress to offer emotional support, a safe place to share their experiences, and practical tools for healthy growth.

A separate parent information session, led by clinical psychologist Dr. Soyoung Sung, will explain the program’s goals, activities, and benefits and provide time for questions.

This program is important because teens who grow up with a sibling with disabilities often carry hidden stress, loneliness, and guilt that they do not know how to express. Through regular one‑on‑one mentoring with trained college students, they receive emotional support, a safe place to talk honestly, and practical tools to understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways. At the same time, the program strengthens the whole family by helping parents better understand what their teens are experiencing and how to support them, so that every member of the family can grow with more confidence, stability, and hope.
