Hello friends and family, 

Returning to the Bay Area in 2022 marked the start of my retirement, and I soon found the perfect place to land - at J-Sei! Because my mother, Kimi Honda, had a long history with J-Sei, volunteering here helped me feel connected to her and the community she cared so deeply about. Seeing my mom’s friends and being introduced to so many others who knew her and her husband Aki, has brought me much joy. 

Somehow, I must have volunteered a little too well, because J-Sei kindly “rewarded” me with a part-time data entry job!  Now I have the privilege of experiencing the spirit of J-Sei up close. I am constantly amazed at all the things happening at J-Sei! The staff and volunteer’s selfless giving is a constant thread throughout all their programs offered, meals prepared, and amazing events that support continual learning and experiences - and I do my best to carry that same spirit with me beyond its doors.
