Our Mission
As a leader in Mandarin Immersion education, we nurture our inclusive and diverse community to become empowered, engaged, and outstanding global citizens.
Over the past 15 years, Yu Ming has moved ten times across Alameda County to accommodate its growing enrollment. In the past three years, we have managed to secure three out of four permanent campuses. As a public charter school in the Bay Area, this has been a monumental effort, made possible only through the commitment of people like you who believed in this community.
We have one campus left to secure.
Recently, the grandmother of a Yu Ming graduate left a $250,000 estate matching gift to help complete this final chapter. She believed in bilingual education and in giving children a strong sense of identity, belonging, and opportunity. Her generosity means that every gift made toward this effort will be matched dollar for dollar.
Permanent campuses do more than create stability for our students. They allow us to continue raising the bar for public education. Educators from across California and beyond now visit our classrooms to learn from a model where 84% of students become fluent readers by third grade while learning two languages.
