"I'm giving because we need to take care of our elders. No one should have to navigate healthcare, fear, or discrimination alone. I hope you'll join me." - Jill J., Longtime Community Supporter and Donor

Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) is the nation's largest legal and civil rights organization for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.

Founded in 1983 as the Asian Pacific American Legal Center, AJSOCAL serves more than 15,000 individuals and organizations every year. Through direct services, impact litigation, policy advocacy, and capacity building, AJSOCAL focuses on the most vulnerable members of Asian American and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (NHPI) communities, while also building a strong voice for civil rights and social justice.

Across Southern California, immigrant and refugee communities continue to navigate systems that are difficult to access, under-resourced, and often inaccessible to people with limited English proficiency or immigration challenges. AJSOCAL responds by delivering critical immigration legal services, health access navigation, and know-your-rights education so community members can protect themselves, their families, and their futures. From defending individuals in immigration proceedings to helping families access healthcare and public benefits, AJSOCAL ensures that people are not forced to choose between safety, stability, or essential care.

Through individualized legal assistance, multilingual resources, and community-based outreach, AJSOCAL supports thousands of people each year in understanding their rights, securing or maintaining lawful status, and accessing services without fear, particularly families facing language barriers, complex eligibility rules, or shifting policy landscapes where protections can change quickly.

AJSOCAL also strengthens long-term protections for immigrant communities by documenting harms and translating lived experience into action. Through hate incident reporting and analysis, language access advocacy, and the collection of community-grounded data, AJSOCAL equips policymakers, partners, and funders with real-time insight into how policies and systems impact AAPI and immigrant communities. These efforts inform advocacy campaigns, expand language access, and elevate community voices that are too often excluded from decision-making, ensuring that service and protections reflect actual need, not assumptions.
